Inspired by a shared sense of social responsibility and commitment to making a positive impact on their community, students at Isenberg School of Management conceptualized and brought to life a transformative volunteering program aimed to assist local organizations and help in the personal development of fellow Isenberg students. DEFNE AKGERMAN
Akgerman, the current Co-Director of STS, is a Sophomore double majoring in OIM and Sport Management. Having experienced the invaluable support of mentors in the sports industry, she is passionate about giving back. She is committed to applying this dedication to benefit the sport community through STS.

COLIN ROBERTS
Roberts, current Co-Director of STS, is a junior double-majoring in Sport Management and Marketing. After taking on volunteer opportunities provided by STS during his first year at UMass Amherst, he continues to gain joy and insight now from a leadership role. He is excited to find opportunities for UMass students and encourage them to support local sports organizations.

Cox, Co-Director of STS for the year 2024, was a Freshman majoring in Sport Management during that year. Community service has always been extremely important to him and applied that passion during his time at STS. His hopes to see the program continue to grow much as possible.
Sam Safferstein
Founder
SAM SAFFERSTEIN
Safferstein, founder of STS, was first to take action in addressing the lack of accessibility and ease for McCormack students interested in pursuing philanthropic endeavors during their time at UMass. Safferstein graduated from UMass in 2023 and is now an Account Executive with the Washington Wizards Inside Sales department. Safferstein looks forward to seeing the growth of STS and continuing to support the program from afar.

VICTORIA ZAJDA
Zajda, Executive Director of STS for the year 2023, was a junior double majoring in Sport Management and OIM. With a genuine passion for community engagement and social change, Zajda eagerly led with enthusiasm and laid out the foundation of STS for generations of student volunteers to come.
